Canada's animal welfare laws are shockingly outdated. Earning a 'D' from the World Animal Protection Index, the laws define pets as property, allowing them the same rights as a piece of furniture. Humans have failed. It’s time for animals to change things themselves.
We found a loophole in petition law: It doesn't explicitly state that you must be human to sign. In fact, you just need a name, address and signature. Things that all pets have. This campaign went viral across the country and even landed us in the House of Commons, where our Pet-ition was officially presented, bringing us closer to redefining Canada's animal sentience laws.
